Is “Female Sexual Dysfunction” fake?
Consider this:
British Medical Journal: The Making Of A Disease: Female Sexual Dysfunction
Is a new disorder being identified to meet unmet needs or to build markets for new medications?
The corporate sponsored creation of a disease is not a new phenomenon,1 but the making of female sexual dysfunction is the freshest, clearest example we have. A cohort of researchers with close ties to drug companies are working with colleagues in the pharmaceutical industry to develop and define a new category of human illness at meetings heavily sponsored by companies racing to develop new drugs…
- Researchers with close ties to drug companies are defining and classifying a new medical disorder at company sponsored meetings
- The corporate sponsored definitions of “female sexual dysfunction” are being criticised as misleading and potentially dangerous
- Commonly cited prevalence estimates, which indicate that 43% of women have “female sexual dysfunction,” are described as exaggerated and are being questioned by leading researchers
- Controversy surrounds current attempts to medicalise sexual problems and establish “normative data” for a range of physiological measurements of female sexual response
- The role of drug companies in the construction of new conditions, disorders, and diseases needs more public scrutiny

Female Sexual Dysfunction Diagnosis Questioned
Some women who suffer from Female Sexual Dysfunction are clearly being helped by medical treatment. Yet some doctors and health advocates say drug makers have turned normal female sexual experiences into a medical diagnosis…
…“For device or drug makers, they’re going to try to expand the market for the product by having more and more women think of themselves as sexually dysfunctional in a way for which a drug or device is the solution,” says Norsigian, predicting ad claims as broad as once made for hormone replacement therapy.
Myth Of Female Impotence ‘Created’
The pharmaceutical industry has “created” a disease out of female sexual problems, it has been suggested.
An article in the British Medical Journal suggests drug manufacturers are defining the condition in order to have a new market for products.
Since the launch of Viagra to treat male impotence in 1998, its manufacturers Pfizer has reported sales of $1.5bn.
Drug companies are now looking to recreate that kind of market with female sexual dysfunction, says the BMJ.
It says females sexual problems are being wrongly “medicalised”, and the numbers affected exaggerated.
It also suggests some researchers are too closely linked to drug companies who sponsor conferences and research.

I take Viagara for my problem of acheiving an erection and I think it is great for Men I Think they should have a drug that will help women with there problem were women can not achieve orgasom no matter what they do or try and the same with men who try to get a woem to have orgasoms no matter what the experts say to try and they gaurantee that it works but for some women it does not work like my wife no matter what I try to do I can not make cum or squirt at all now the girl I went out with before I had no problem to get her to have multiple orgasoms everytime we had sex and it was great me and my wifes sex life is going down the tubes and I hate it because I love sex and would love to give her orgasoms all the time no matter what I try it does not work.

Good Morning Jessica:
Amen…the truth is out…
Yes its right sexual problems of females like us are wrongly medicalised. In this aspect men are more lucky than us. Though medical science has gone must forward but still no solutions for some of our sexual problems.
I highly doubt that it is fake, as I can testify firsthand that my hormones have had varying effects on my body. There have been times when I was on birth control, that I felt so out of sorts and completely lost any desire for sex. It can also be a result of mental conditioning I think. If someone has been abused, then the body’s response would be trained in a certain way. I really look forward to seeing more hormonal research in the future. It’s something that affects so many women, but gets brushed off as them blowing it out of proportion.
It’s wonderful that someone is taking the time to bother looking at women as a separate entities when it comes to medical research. I think it’s a shame that the drug companies are involved, though. That to me screams of opportunism.
As mistrusting as I am of the medical and pharmaceutical industries, it really concerns me that female sexual issues would be labeled as fake or made up somehow. We already face this attitude so much, of how it’s all in our heads. I’m guessing this theory was made up by one of those same men who think PMS is something we made up too.
I have to admit, I’ve been curious about Viagra for women, and hearing some testimonials for it. I’ve actually heard a few scattered things here and there, and actually it seems kind of promising. I’d like to see some more public material available though. I imagine the result would be simialr with more blood flow to that area of your body.
How is it that only men can have sexual dysfunction, but women can not. That doesn’t really make sense with their logic. If they could actually provide some proof or statistics, then I’d give this more credit. But this just sounds cynical and small minded.
The female sexual dysfunction is one of proble facing through out the world it cannot be cured onle through viagra it mostly works for erection This could only replaced by drug. I thick i could happen soon
thank you very much jessica you are really great lady

hi the volume that this is taped on is very low turned up both volumes-my computer and the 1 on the feed and it was still too soft
LOL!
WE WOMEN ARE VERY COMPLICATED. I FEEL THAT I HAVE HAD A VERY NORMAL SEX LIFE UP UNTIL THE CHANGE OF LIFE. NOW MY OBGYN DR. INFORMS ME THAT I HAVE WHAT HE CALLS A BORDERLINE NYMPHOMANIAC CONDITION BECAUSE MY SEXUAL DESIRES ARE OFF THE CHART AS HE CALLS IT. THE MEDICATION HE PUT ME ON TO CONTROL THESE URGES VIRTUALLY TURNED ME INTO A ZOMBIE. I WENT FROM WANTING SEX CONSTANTLY TO NO SEXUAL DESIRE AT ALL. SIMPLY PUT I PREFERRED HAVING SEXUAL DESIRES CONSTANTLY TO BEING A ZOMBIE AND HAVING VIRTUALLY NO SEXUAL DESIRE AT ALL. IN MY OPINION MEDICATIONS CAN BE EVERY BIT AS DETRIMENTAL AS THEY CAN BE HELPFUL. THEREFORE EACH WOMAN MUST DESIDE FOR HERSELF WHAT IS RIGHT OR WHAT WORKS BEST FOR HER.

Jessica hun,
Where I’m located there is an advertisement for a study for women who may “potentially suffer from female dysfunction” too participate in a study. This means they are trying a new trial drug to measure results. I agree with what you have said, I know from personal experience what brings a women to that ultimate moment is trust with a partner. It also depends on how a women feels about that moment. My ex-wife and I waited 7 long years before she could bring herself to that moment. Once she did reach that ultimate climax there was no going back. Patients is a virtue, this was so true in the case with my ex-wife and I. I agree with you, it is a money making scheme for the pharmaceutical industry, to capitalize on a fabricated condition. If people are not educated, they will fall prey to there tactics.

Hi Jessica..!!!!!
I get very knowledge full things frm ur talks…
thanx!!!
Of course many females are wrongly medicated. Doctors, health care insurance companies and hospitals are always looking to make a buck, so if you get diagnosed with some certain ailment that they tell you you need to take expensive meds for, you are well advised to get a 2nd and a 3rd opinion elsewhere as well. Not just for female problems.
